Biography

Ben developed a passion for drums at an early age whilst learning trumpet and piano at Primary School. Following an introduction to Jazz by his musician Grandfather, Ben enjoyed music from Buddy Rich and later drum artists like Phil Collins. He was soon playing in the chart Indie-Britpop style, imitating drummers from bands such as Blur, Radiohead, Manic Street Preachers, The Verve and Oasis.

At this time, pop drummer, Chris Sharrock, was a strong influence through his energetic live performances with Robbie Williams, as well as the powerful beats of John Bonham (Led Zeppelin), Dave Grohl (Nirvana) and Dominic Howard (Muse) - all were inspirational!

Following tuition from local Portsmouth teacher, Jon Hammond and achieving his Trinity Guildhall Grade 8 by the age of 15, Ben furthered his studies at The Academy Of Contemporary Music (ACM), achieving a prestigious BA Honours degree in 2006.

Now based in London, Ben continues to play many high-profile gigs around the world. Artists he has performed with on the road and on TV/Radio include:

  • Ladyhawke
  • Clare Maguire
  • Adam Lambert
  • Nicole Sherzinger
  • Will Young
  • Joe McElderry
  • Girls Aloud
  • Shayne Ward
